Sometimes I wish I would have handy connections to any villain country and enough money to buy an a-bomb ... but if I would have, I wouldn't be in the situation I am in right now.
So - there's this huge Game Company in the US, that searches desperately for people who can write and speak fluent German. I know, me being German doesn't necessarily includes that my writing skills are excellent. But well, with my grown ego I'm the opinion they're decent enough.
Said Game Company is a little bit in stress to publish a certain game in time. So they need people who check the German version for any spelling mistakes etc blabla. Crunchtime at its best. And a job that would last from end of July to the middle of August.
A job I already had in my pocket. If .... and here comes the part with my need for a-bombs the Arbeitsamt would tag along.

2. I would earn to much money


3. Since the Arbeitsamt is paying my rent, they can decide where I'm allowed to go

not that this would be my bigtime chance!!! but QA for a GAME COMPANY has nothing to do with my future job as GAME DESIGNER ... at least not in there records!!!

Doesn't it always work like that with those kinds of public instances? My ex got paid his sick money half a year late because NAV (the Norwegian version) fucked up. I don't even want to deal with them - I'm working for a temp agency instead of trying to get them to help me find a job. It's just too frustrating.

My Problem at the moment: I have to deal with them. School is damn tough. 35 hours at week plus at least another 15 hours of homework, projects etc ... so it's a fulltime job.
On Saturdays I work from 4 am to 8 am at a local grocery store, refilling the goods on the shelfs - for fucking €4,50 per hour - but that's what I'm allowed to earn, if I don't want to mess up with the loans.
But I can't get another job at the moment, since school is occuping so much of my time. There's just no space to fit in a half-time job.

And those morrons don't accept my argumantation that I do everything at the moment to get a real education (you know, all the papers and stuff ...) so that I'm able to pay my taxes in just one year ahead.

So yeah, it's frigging frustrating

We're a bit luckier here, can ear somewhere around 8,500£ a year without risking to lose our scholarships/loans. But having to deal with those government instances dealing with work is something I wouldn't want on anyone.

Nah, it just takes so much of independence away. And I'll be so damn happy once I have all responsibilities back.

And compared to Germany, Norway is Heaven :)

I'm already writing my applications, and toying with the thought to move to Norway once I'm done with school.

Norway is pretty sweet in some ways. Not so much in others.

Just come here, and we'll teach you Norwegian pretty quickly. My Religions professor in UNi started out speaking German and English only, she'd learned Norwegian by the second semester. Not too hard for you guys, methinks. Was teaching a Dutch girl Norwegian swearwords last weekend, and she picked up on it pretty quickly.

Norwegian isn't that hard for Germans.
My teacher back in university-days always said: Think about the german way to say something, do so in 'Platt' and you're close to it.

Best example that always jumps into mind is 'snakker' - in 'Platt' (which is a Northern-German dialect) it's schnakken - with exactly the same meaning... us stupid Germans just have to figure out the right pronaunciation of the 'r' and 'o' ^^

And no country is perfect. But what's going on in Germany right now is pretty screwed. And will probably lead to re-elections sooner or later.

You akso need to learn to pronounce 'v' as 'v' and not 'f'. I know at least 2 German women that's lived here for 20+ years, and neither manage. It's quite funny. XD But then again, I could never pronounce 'ich'.

hey, we have quite the distinction between 'f' and 'v' :)

And 'ich' is really simple.
Imagine you're chocked by someone. And you want to say 'Eye' and the rest is a blatant 'shhhhh'
in other words: What are you thinking, you Idiot! Trying to choke me? I fucking eat your guts, once I found the sharpened spoon, to cut them out of your stomach...

I know you have the distinction yes, but somehow it doesn't seem to register with Germans here that initial 'v' is still 'v' here. And that our 's's sound like a snake hissing - not the 'sch' sound you use a lot.

And the thing is, I can manage that sound fine when I'm speaking English/Scottish - as in 'loch' - I just can't do it in German, always comes out as 'ish', no matter how hard I try. :P
